S2 E33: Recycling Realities #2
Friday Sep 13, 2019
Friday Sep 13, 2019
Join me for the second part of our story--Recycling Realities where I go on my very first ride along! I spend a Wednesday morning with Gavin, Charles, and Saul as we collect the recyclables and not-so-recyclables in our wee little South African town of Greyton.
WHAT CAN I RECYCLE IN GREYTON?
- Metal,
- Glass (this even includes lightbulbs, but UNBROKEN),
- Cardboard,
- White/brown paper,
- magazines,
- newspapers,
- All HARD plastics,
- Plastic bags,
- Boetie said that he also takes small and large appliances & electronics ranging from washing machines to cell phones.
- However, the next time you come across any soft plastic (other than plastic bags or packets), DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT PUT THAT IN RECYCLING. And the next time you have a take away meal in a polystyrene container, DO NOT PUT THAT IN RECYCLING. DON’T. DO IT.

S2 E32: Recycling Realities #1
Friday Aug 30, 2019
Friday Aug 30, 2019
Join me for the first episode of a short series--Recycling Realities. It began with a conversation with Greyton's Recycling King, Boetie Bantam, but by the end of it, I had more questions about the overall practice and system of recycling from both an economic and cultural standpoint. So stay tuned as we explore the who, what when, where, why, what, how of recycling in little ole' Greyton, the country, the continent and the world! The only thing I can promise is that you will likely be left with more questions than answers. Plastics, cardboard, and glass, Oh My!
